Vermilion Parish is making plans to bring big business to the parish, and market what it has to offer; the parish now has an economic development district.

Anne Falgout is the new executive director of the Vermilion Parish Economic Development District.

“It’s brand new, we get to start with a fresh pair of eyes and a community that’s really excited. So we get to do it right the first time,” said Falgout.

Falgout comes with experience, working 13 years with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority before making the jump to Vermilion Parish.

Board member Richard Guilbeaux says that experience was key.

“All across the United States, doing a huge extensive search and interviewing numbers of people by Skype and by personal interview, it just came to be that she was the best person for this parish,” said Guilbeau.

As for the plan, Falgout is eyeing nationwide exposure for Vermilion Parish.

“We’re going to really focus on branding and imaging and create a name for ourselves, so not only that people in the region know who we are, but in the state and the country,” said Falgout.

Her vision is to not only keep current business booming, but to embrace entrepreneurs in Acadiana, and keep the parish growing.

“So as businesses are looking for places to do good things and expand their workforce, they’ll look to Vermilion,” said Falgout.
