The Louisiana Department of Education has nominated six schools from across the state for National Blue Ribbon Schools award. Of the six schools nominated by the state, three of them are from the Vermilion Parish school system. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, established in 1982, honors public and nonpublic schools in each state that are either high-performing or have closed achievement gaps, especially among minority or disadvantaged students. These schools demonstrate that all students can achieve at high levels.

Please join us in congratulating the following schools on this prestigious nomination:

1. Erath High School – High Performing

2. Forked Island E. Broussard – Closing Achievement Gaps

3. Indian Bayou Elementary – Closing Achievement Gaps

“This is fantastic news for our district,” Superintendent Brad Prudhomme said. “We wish them the best of luck as they strive to achieve this national recognition.”
