Louisiana Main Street Redevelopment Incentive Grants: Encourages economic development through community reinvestment and revitalization by providing matching grant support for the redevelopment of historic downtown commercial properties.

Grant funding is dependent on state budgets and the amount of funding appropriated by the legislatures.

Matching funds:

This grant requires a dollar-for-dollar monetary match toward hard costs. Grant funds are limited to actual con- struction/restoration hard cost only. Owner or tenant contributions of design work, labor, equipment, and such regarded as in-kind and not considered as matching funds for the purpose of this grant.

This is a reimbursement grant. The award amount is paid upon completion of the work described in the approved scope of work in the State Grant Agreement that arrives after the recipients are announced. All grant funded work must adhere to (1) the scope of work described in the grant application, (2) the historic preservation guidelines of the Secretary of Interior Standards (SOIS) found at https:// www/naps.gov/tprshow-to-preserve/ briefs.htm and (3) the State Grant Agreement signed after notification of award.

The level of grants ranges from $2500 – $10,000.

Eligibility: Buildings must be at least 50 years old and must contribute to the significance of the local Main Street district. The local Main Street director will assist the applicant in determining if the building meets this eligibility requirement.

Tax Liabilities: Recipients of grants are responsible for any tax liability incurred as a result of this grant. Recipients will receive a 1099 miscellaneous income form for use in preparing tax returns for the year in which the grant payment is issued.

Certificate of Appropriateness: For exterior projects, the application scope of work must be reviewed and approved by the Planning and Zoning Committee/Historic District Commission. The Issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness may be scheduled with the Main Street director.

Applications are due Friday, July 30, 2021 and must be completed by Saturday, April 30, 2022. Notification Grant recipients should receive notification by early-September 2021.
